Dr. Dominique Bourqui

Chavannes-près-Renens, Switzerland

I am on a mission to transforming the education system with an entrepreneurial mindset adapted to educators, the Edupreneurial Mindset. The book I wrote with Dr. David Claivaz titled " Edupreneurial Pivot, Transforming Education with an entrepreneurial mindset " was first published in French, March 2019. The English version is soon to be released.

I am an experienced entrepreneur who started her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 15. Since then, I have founded several companies and projects. I am still managing some of the companies I co-founded (www.swissmadprod.ch) while coaching and consulting entrepreneurs on developing their entrepreneurial mindset as well as on developing their Business (www.bfcc.ch).

Passionate about education, I am the Director of the Doctoral School of Business School Lausanne, Switzerland (www.bsl-lausanne.ch) where we have more than 40 students completing their DBA.

I hold a PhD in Law from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. My doctoral studies focused on the market access rights to the European air transportation market as well as on the Open skies agreement with the US.

I am currently working on the transformation of the Education system and I am the co-author and co-founder of Edupreneurial Pivot, a book and a website to support the transformation of the education system with an entrepreneurial mindset adapted to the school fact, the edupreneurial mindset (www.edpivot.com).

Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

Change in education is not happening at a systemic level. Disruption actually happens at the level of individual initiatives by teachers or groups of teachers, leaders, parents, or event students. Being part of the HundrED Community means to be able to observe these changes from a priviliedged standpoint. It is the best starting point to see what is change in education and a strong network to carry the news.

How can education support students to flourish?

Diversity is the most important factor impacting education at the 21st-Century. Education is still universal, but its universality has to acknowledge numerous differences in the profiles of the students, in their family and socio-economical contexts, as well as in their learning needs. Education can support students to flourish if education proves capable of leading profoundly different individual to study and succeed together.

What role does innovation play in education change?

Innovation is key to bridge the gap from the education context to the real world. The acceleration of change, which is the signature of the 21st Century, calls for an education that can successfully adapt to the ever-faster changes of the context. Innovation is the driver of this adaptation, especially is innovation proves purposeful, fair, sustainable and quick.

Three HundrED innovations you love. (and Why?)

The Goal Indicator, because it is essentially a new tool for learning, not just the new version of an existing tool.

PenPal Schools, because it is a great way to rejuvenate an old idea, that has the essential quality of developing friendship beyond boarders.

Kasvan Education, because it makes parents partners of school learning.

Three innovations you would love for HundrED to know about. (and Why?)

d-Schule Bratsch: the school that builds a village, because it is the first school that is entirely built on learning by real projects. Home page: gd Schule Bratsch

Smartest Learning: an app that transforms any learning resource into a quiz, because it is the first AI application that can realistically be deployed. Home page: Smartest Learning

EPFL Extension School: a skilled-based higher education programme that does not require previous academic qualification and provides best-in-class learning in subjects that lies at the heart of tomorrow's world, because it is a truly disruptive model for academia: The EPFL Extension School.
