Head of Global Research @ HundrED. I am enormously passionate about the most innovative ways to make education more equitable for everyone, because I believe that overcoming future global challenges like climate change will depend on it. I’m an educational researcher, lecturer/teacher/facilitator, speaker, curriculum developer/learning designer, programmer, and musician.
Like Nelson Mandela, I believe that education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world, and this is why I’ve dedicated my professional life to teaching and learning. I am enormously passionate about the most innovative ways to make education more equitable for everyone because overcoming global challenges like climate change will depend on it.
My scholarly interests range widely, from understanding technology as an intervening force in the world to how innovative and effective pedagogical strategies can enhance teaching and learning. I'm a skilled and experienced presenter and facilitator, leading seminars, interactive workshops, classes and tutorials for students (from school to undergraduate and post-graduate university level), teaching staff, and industry professionals. I also have 10 over years experience lecturing and teaching students from as young as 3 to seniors from a very diverse range of cultures and backgrounds.
I would be happy to connect with anyone interested in discussing and collaborating in all aspects of teaching and learning. Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?
I am enormously passionate about the most innovative ways to make education more equitable both locally and abroad. This is why I wanted to become a HundrED Ambassador – to connect people, take part in, and act as a catalyst for the world's best educational ideas and initiatives.
How can education support students to flourish?
Many times, I have seen the transformational power of highly effective teaching and learning; however, sadly I have also seen much of the opposite, where poor quality and narrowly focused schooling dims the light of a child's dreams.
Moreover, I absolutely believe the hard challenges we face in the future as global citizens can be overcome if we share, learn, and innovate together. This begins with inspiring our young people to believe in themselves, and overhauling the old-fashioned industrial era structural framework of school systems that are prevalent today.
What role does innovation play in education change?
I believe that educational innovations that empower, inspire and develop creative thinking will be essential for our young people for an unknown future of rapid change.
