Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

I believe that the purpose of education is to prepare people to thrive in the world. That purpose is increasingly difficult to achieve as our societies become more complex and nuanced than ever before.

The HundrED community represents innovators, insights and changemakers who are all striving to ensure that education is serving people all around the world. Who wouldn't want to be part of that?

How can education support students to flourish?

Education, and in fact learning more broadly, should absolutely be about enabling and empowering people to flourish, as well as serving their very diverse needs.

At the moment, institutionalised education is mostly driven by one-size-fits-all, standardized pedagogies, assessment and attainment—which means that many people are not being served at all.

If education is to fulfil its purpose it needs to be reimagined with these ideas at its core.

What role does innovation play in education change?

Innovation is simply about looking at things with a new (or alternative) perspective to get an improved outcome. And so, innovation is critical to education transformation.  Without innovation we will have more of the same and that is simply not good enough.

Three HundrED innovations you love. (and Why?)

Voice 21 - because everyone has a story to tell. These stories reveal things about learners and should inform decision making when it comes to creating equitable learning environments.

THINK Global School - because experience is the most important part of learning and a travelling school is an amazing idea!

Edcamps - because this gives teachers a window into what true student-driven, curriculum-free learning looks like.

Three innovations you would love for HundrED to know about. (and Why?)

Link Online Learners - global, virtual after school club where students from around the world share stories and experiences from the comfort of their own homes and spaces.

REAL School - a school doing things differently to really inspire and prepare its scholars to thrive in the world they inherit.

Reginius Science - PBL aligned to what the world really needs, driven by student curiosity and facilitated by a New York State Master Teacher.
