Tamale, Ghana

My mission is to promote an ecologically sustainable K 12 Education Innovation beyond the fixated four walls of the classroom.

Three things describe me: I am an educator, a story teller and a field lover. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social and Development Administration from the University for Development Studies.

I set out more than six years ago to guide learners to learn. So that they do not struggle in their process of learning. Little did I know that this would expose learners and I to the reality that the classroom culture needs to transform beyond its fixated walls for learners to flourish.

Sustainability makes a great meaning in my work of guiding learners to build independence along play, mother tongue, creativity, problem solving and re-using, from their gifted environments.

Though the global pandemic (COVID-19) disrupted learning, it has helped me connect more and better with the fields and gave me the opportunity to re-imagine school, schooling and learning that is ecologically sound and sustaining.

I believe learning, resources, nature, and the industry are all interconnected in various ways for a sustainable world.

Experience

Guided learners from rural areas in Hattoub Primary School in the Northern Region to partner with African Clean-Up Initiative for innovative learning with their environment and waste as learning resources.

Partnered with AKH (Delegation of German Industry and Commerce) in Ghana under The circular economy) to pilot “Early numeracy in the circular economy project” in Alwafaa School Orphanage at Dungu, Tamale. This project was a rural children community self-help one that allowed children to explore with their environments and things available to them including pebbles for counting, to build their numeracy skills.

Awarded on 3rd August, 2019 by African Clean-Up Initiative in recognition of extraordinary contributions and performance towards environmental sustainability in Africa.

Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

I am curious and passionate about facilitating change in a global movement that supports learners to flourish. “Hundred” as an organization, is tailored to promote what I love and what I do; bringing ideas into learning and learning spaces. This is what the world of learning needs to triumph, especially in challenging and unpredictable moments like now.

How can education support students to flourish?

The right education allows learners to lead learning as conscious educators guide them to discover, nurture their curiosity, build experiences and unique pathways to growth and development. Education that is fixated in a four walled classroom is one that can deprive learners amazing opportunities that exist beyond the classroom.
