Science For Tots
In this experiment new holistic ways of teaching science to preschool students will be carried out through interactive exploration and play. A virtual science club will be created in partnership with preschools and kindergartens.
What are the goals you are looking to achieve with the experiment?
The goal of the experiment is to teach children subjects in STEM through discovery and positive feelings of achievement and wonder at a young age to reinforce good learning results later in life. The children’s skills in thinking and discovery learning will be supported and developed.
How will it be put into practice?
The experiment will be developing a science program for children in partnership with kindergartens and preschools. The trialling and development of learning material and digital learning material in STEM subjects will be the centre focus.
Is this a new experiment or is this based on an existing one?
The experiment is based on an idea we have had prior to HundrED. The experiment is part of the University of Helsinki’s LUMA - centre and Science Club Oy work that has been ongoing since 2004. The university has had its own science program for children since 2013 that contains after school science club Jipot, training for facilitators, a virtual science club for families that has become an app as well and collaboration with kindergartens.
Will be announced later.
