Partnering Schools with Businesses
The collaboration between schools and businesses is generally acknowledged to be important, however for one reason or another has been difficult to generate. The Nuorten Akatemia - Youth Academy experiment intends to find effective ways to better the collaboration with schools and businesses in Finland and globally. In addition, analytics of challenges involved will be gathered. The experiment is focused on comprehensive schools as well as high schools.
What is the idea of the experiment?
The collaboration between businesses and schools could potentially present opportunities to develop schools even further. Although both parties have interest in collaborating, for some reason it isn’t common. This experiment will be researching and creating good practices and models in improving collaboration.
How will the experiment be scheduled?
In the fall of 2016 we will be researching the collaborative work that is already being done in Finland between schools and businesses. An ethnographic study will be taking place at a secondary school. By the end of 2016 an idea lab will take place to create collaborative models. The idea lab will be held for local businesses or entrepreneurs, school teachers, principals and parents as well as third sector parties. The results will be shared in 2017.
What are the goals you are looking to achieve with the experiment?
The goal is to eliminate the barriers that keep schools and businesses from collaborating, to demolish stereotypical thinking and create new unprejudiced opportunities for schools to improve.
Will be announced later.
