Life presents us with all kinds of unexpected challenges – how can a young person deal with adversity and bounce back? In partnership with the Pekka Hyysalo FightBack organisation and pedagogical specialists, this experiment will create a holistic way of teaching young people the life skills that are essential to encountering and tackling difficult times.
What is the idea of the experiment?
Pekka Hyysalo’s FightBack organisation will be collaborating with pedagogical specialists to create an educational format that combines Hyysalo’s powerful story on overcoming his tragedy with scalable pedagogical tools for young people to use in recovering from difficulties in their lives. The creative outcome will be trialed in several schools in the next year.
Is this a new experiment or is this based on an existing one?
Hyysalo’s FightBack organisation has been around for some time, but what is new about this is the experiment of creating educational material from his experiences in HundrED.
How will the experiment be scheduled and how will it be put into practice?
Creating the content will be on-going in the Spring and Summer of 2016 and trialed by the end of 2016 and the start of 2017.
What are the goals you are looking to achieve with the experiment?
The goal is to create a pedagogically ambitious replicable education format that is appealing to young people and can be applied in any school in Finland. We want to help the youth with life challenges and give them tools to recover from hardship.
