Co-Teaching in the Age of Digitalization
How will technology change the way we teach? How will we be able to authentically use it as a professional resource for teachers? A team of four teachers at Veromäki School in Vantaa, Finland will co-educate and plan all of their lessons together through online platforms. The role of HundrED in this experiment will be to support teachers and share their work.
What are the goals you are looking to achieve with the experiment?
The goal is to create a community or culture of digital co-teaching for a whole school grade. This change will improve the sharing and planning of ideas for teachers which will ultimately save resources. In addition, the models being developed will reinforce student-centered learning.
How will it be put into practice?
The experiment will begin in the spring of 2016 with the development of the material and learning environments to suit the needs of co-teaching. The experiment will share the material with interested teachers. In the fall the teachers involved will be taught the practices and almost all of the work will be done online. The model will continue to be developed as the experiment progresses. The ultimate aim is that in the spring of 2017 the model should become a natural part of teachers’ work.
Is this a new experiment or is this based on an existing one?
The experiment is based on a previous idea that will be replicated and trialled with another grade.
