Sarah is currently the Director of Sustainability and Community Programs at Springhouse Community School.
Sarah grew up in Madison, WI and moved to Floyd in 2017 where she began to put down roots. Sarah and her partner Ian are currently building a house in Floyd where they intend to live and grow together for the foreseeable future. Sarah holds a bachelor's degree in Religion with a focus in Buddhism and Western philosophy from Colorado College. While in college, she participated in Emory University's Mind-Body Science Program in Dharamsala India engaging in dialogue with Tibetan leaders in exile on the confluence of modern science and Buddhist philosophy. After college, Sarah studied permaculture design at Quail Springs Permaculture and completed an 18-month sustainable agriculture fellowship with the Allegheny Mountain Institute in 2016. Sarah is a Wilderness First Responder and has worked in youth development in a variety of capacities, ranging from leading backpacking trips in Colorado, teaching English in Costa Rica, and coordinating garden-based education. Sarah is deeply committed to healthy human development and is passionate about creating intact community. She is currently enrolled in an MEd program through Meridian University studying transformative leadership. She loves dance, growing medicinal herbs, and playing games of all sorts.
