I started my career in Finance in 2006 as a stock broker in Delhi. After working for 3 years, I went for my Masters in Finance to Australia in 2009. 2010 marked a big shift within me when I joined as a volunteer, with St Paul's College in Melbourne, a small school for children with special needs. I continued volunteering, then part time and then full time work with them for over 4 years. I worked as a Special Education Teacher Assistant. It was towards the end of 2013, I planned to come back to India with all the skills sets and knowledge that I had attained there to see how such high level of care and services be provided in India. I joined Teach for India as a teaching Fellow in 2014 in one of the schools in Amdavad. I spent lot of time understanding different difficulties children face across mainstream classroom. Then researched and visited different special schools in India and built up a basic understanding that although there are great special education centres running in India they are mostly accessible to children from upper middle class segment of the society. And hence if any solution to cater to different difficulties that children lies within the area of mainstream classrooms. And hence Samait Shala was born in 2016 "to create an inclusive learning environment for every child".
