Innovation Overview
What is SIMA Classroom?
What we do?
Since 2012 SIMA has been setting new standards of integrity and creativity in social impact storytelling. We celebrate and spotlight outstanding documentaries and VR experiences that defy traditional narratives and challenge the status quo and amplify their message by combining film screenings with high-impact engagement platforms that transform audiences into agents of change.
Why we do it?
SIMA Classroom mirrors the UN’s definition of global citizenship education, which is focused on fostering respect for all, building a sense of belonging to a common humanity and helping learners become responsible and active global citizens.
Our vision is a global society that nurtures the values of peace, respect and cross-cultural diversity. Our education systems are hard-pressed to lay the groundwork for this vision without quality teaching resources that are engaging, dynamic and align with how current and future generations are consuming information, namely through media and visual storytelling. Social impact documentary offers a unique opportunity to experience the world through personal narratives and local perspectives. It is the key to engaging young people in global social issues.
Our mission is to provide first-class visual storytelling resources to education forums worldwide, empowering learners to acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills to become proactive contributors to a better world.
