Restoring hope for our children after disaster strikes

Little Learners Preschool

location_on The Bahamas
We are the first Preschool in Abaco, Bahamas since Hurricane Dorian destroyed the island in September 2019. We provide a high-quality play-based learning environment for early childhood. After the storm, we recognized that education is the most important way to provide a sense of normalcy for children, and teachers like ourselves, after experiencing trauma and disaster.

about the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

Research has proven that early childhood education is critical for all children to gain the academic and emotional skills they require to succeed in life. We have dedicated our educational backgrounds to providing the children of Abaco with high-quality education and a safe place to grow. With this, we aim to provide a sense of hope within our community that many lost eighteen months ago.

How does your innovation work in practice?

Our overall goal is to empower the future generation but to also allow for families to remain home where they belong, by offering schooling for their children.

How has it been spreading?

We have allowed families to return home to the island of Abaco by providing an established school for their family.

If I want to try it, what should I do?
