About the innovation

Community Partnerships Support Next Generation Success

Whether students choose to pursue college or career, our goal is to prepare our students for success after high school.

With an increasing number of high priority occupations in our region related to advanced manufacturing, we formed partnerships with the industry leaders in our own backyard to help us prepare our students to be the next generation of leaders and innovators in our community and beyond.

One example is our partnership with Penn United Technologies. Through this partnership, we are able to offer students who are interested in advanced manufacturing a personalized learning experience in a real-world career setting, ensuring they graduate with the 21st Century skills required for success. In addition, students are able to earn industry certifications and even network with potential future employers before graduating from high school. To date, 100% of students who complete the program earned industry certifications. In addition, approximately 70% received a job offer.

Butler Area School District and Penn United Technologies are committed to ensuring the partnership meets both the needs of our students as well as employers throughout the region. Moving forward, we are looking for opportunities to engage additional school districts and businesses to grow the program to both prepare students for a succsesful career after high school and help businesses find and hire professionals who have acquired the industry skills before they even graduate from high school.

When schools and community collaborate, students benefit.
