Carbon Farming Schools are one of the IGAF Eco-projects aiming to educate students about climate change through carbon agroforest activities

Carbon Farming Schools educate Indonesia students by means of low carbon activities for agriculture and forestry management. By integrating these activities into informal curriculum, the students have started to contribute on achieving SDG 2, SDG 13, and SDG 15. The activities are such as carbon agroforest education, social forestry, land rehabilitation, biopori making, and so forth.

Building team, Network, and Mature Planning

At the preliminary step, you must ensure your planning, and establish network and create responsible teams with specific job desks.

Creating Carbon Farming Curriculum

Carbon farming curriculum, including courses and activities, must be established well because it will determine the key success of this project implementation. We integrate IGAF planning into school curriculum and we tailor the curriculum with students' understanding. We attempt to create simple, affordable, applicable, and reproducible curriculum so that the students can understand of how to translate set theories into carbon farming activities.

Carbon Farming Education

Before acting to field, the students are educated about carbon farming and global environmental issues. The students are also encouraged to find out innovative solutions to tackle ecological or carbon farming challenges. After the education, the students are encouraged to evaluate their understanding through tests.

Taking Actions

The students are encouraged to take actions after imparting their brains with carbon farming education. The students are also propelled to nurture their actions sustainably through relevant activities in the field. The calculation of carbon sequestrated is measured with students to know the importance of carbon farming project to reduce GHGs.

Community Engagement

Besides courses and actions, the students are encouraged to take actions with local communities nearby the schools. The local communities can be such as: local farmers, local businessmen, housewife, and so forth. Not only students are educated but also they are also educated with carbon farming, such as: organic farming, climate smart agro-technology, and so forth.

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)

All stakeholders engaged in this project are requested to help assess M&E, including sustainability, benefits, and outcomes achievement.

Carbon Farming Schools Expansion

Successful project has the potential to be expanded to other schools in Indonesia.
