Working with students, teachers, and school leaders to empower student voice and choice in their educational experiences. Helping schools become more nimble, adaptive, and innovative in their work to serve students. Usually drinking coffee and hanging out with Kelly the dog.

Mike is a socially conscious education entrepreneur and innovator. He is concerned with how schools are best serving their students, particularly those who are in most need of this service. He loves helping teachers, school leaders, and students become the best versions of themselves, particularly if this involves unconventional path taking and decision making.

Why do you want to be a part of the HundrED Community?

HundrED is a global leader in sparking education transformation, which is leadership that schools desperately need. I am hoping to lend my experience, thought processes, and vision to the broader conversation around how we can best serve students.

How can education support students to flourish?

Education can help students build critical decision making skills that they will need to be navigate what is sure to be an ambiguous future. We can help students hone these skillsets and become better more self-determined in their learning path.

What role does innovation play in education change?

Innovation is at the heart of what will continue to drive education forward. It is no mystery that many schools around the world need to change. Innovative approaches to teaching, learning, decision-making, hierarchies, funding, and assessment all need to happen for us to better serve students. If our goal is to empower and inspire generations of young people, then innovation will be our way to do so.

Three HundrED innovations you love. (and Why?)

Eco-Schools- Climate change is an existential crisis like no other. Engaging students in the development of awareness of their environment and the impact their choices can have is going to be critical to our future. This innovation does just that.

Design For Change- What if we were to put students in the driver's seat of their learning and community-based change? What if we were to engage with young people as actual thought partners and actual solutions-oriented collaborators?

World of Work- Many young people struggle to dream about what's possible beyond what they've experienced. World of Work seeks to connect young people to real possibilities for their future.

Three innovations you would love for HundrED to know about. (and Why?)

The Educators Room- Empowering teachers as vocal experts and professionals in their field. Daily published media content written by teachers for teachers.

Philadelphia's Innovative School Collective- Schools working to change education for students in the greater Philadelphia area. Workshop School; el Centro de Estudiantes; Vaux Big Picture; the Philadelphia Learning Collaborative.

AIM Academy & the AIM Institute for Learning and Research- Young, entrepreneurial school serving students with language-based learning disabilities (eg. Dyslexia). Conducting research on the science and efficacy of literacy instruction.
