School Guardian

We increase safety and quality of life in the school community as a purpose.

School Guardian promotes safety and gain of time to parents and students while saving schools' budget, increasing agility, and improving school logistics. Also, it helps to reduce the traffic jam around schools and the CO2 idling emission and benefits the entire school community. Currently, we have around 400 schools in 7 countries, increasing the safety of more than 280,000 students and parents.

About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

As a parent, I was concerned about students' safety and was wasting a lot of time picking them up. So, one day, back in 2013, after waiting for them for almost 40 minutes to return home from school, I decided to leave my comfort zone and create a solution.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

We have mobile and web apps for schools that give schools the ability to know in advance when parents are getting close to picking kids up and pictures, names, and IDs of who is authorized to pick up students.

For parents, a mobile app gives them control over pickup authorizations and content/alerts from schools, besides features that increase safety, such as QR Code tags to control access to the school facilities that work for individuals and cars.

Students may also have their QR Codes printed or on their smartphones to register when they enter and leave the school so that the school will always know who is inside if they need to evacuate the school space.

We also offer a school bus tracking app with automated messages to parents so that they can have peace of mind, which also shows drivers everyone who should drop on or off at each bus stop and more.

The platform has other features such as a COVID Symptom checker related to the check-in control to avoid the disease spreading.

How has it been spreading?

Before the lockdown last year, we had 200 schools as clients in Brazil with 40,000 students (our main KPI). However, due to new features to improve health safety, we have doubled the number of clients by the end of 2020 and increased more during 2021.

To date, we've reached 400 schools, 100,000+ students, 180,000 parents, and conquered our initial clients in 7 more countries.
