OWL emphasizes the power of an open source approach for crowdsourcing, sharing, & repurposing existing models, curriculum, & approaches to create contextualized solutions for student-centered learning. It leverages the wisdom of a community to generate, scale, & sustain cutting edge innovations for the benefit of students, especially those with the least access to opportunity.
Open Way Learning coaches (and, as appropriate, OWL Fellows) provide targeted training, workshops, and support at schools/districts that express an interest in making a cultural shift to a culture of open, learner-centered innovation. This typically starts with an “intake discussion” (face-to-face or virtual) to ensure Open Way Learning is indeed a good fit per the school’s strategic goals, needs, and assets. From that initial discussion, we co-design a customized plan for support to help the school/district leverage local skills and assets to meet their short and long term needs. Note that we do not provide canned “programs,” because that is counter to our open source philosophy of collaborative adaptation of best practices to help a school on its individual innovation journey.
