About the innovation

Why did you create this innovation?

In today’s rapidly changing world, there is a growing recognition that traditional educational models need to evolve to better prepare students for their future. This understanding led to the creation of the Future Education in Action (FEiA) programme, designed to break free from career-oriented life planning education to cultivate future-ready skills and mindset through school-based innovation.

What does your innovation look like in practice?

Values-Driven Education: FEiA instills core compassion values like gratitude, trust, openness, respect, and selflessness within the program design.

Exploration: The programme encourages students to explore their potential through various authentic learning opportunities, such as internships and self-initiated projects

School-Based Innovation: FEiA aids schools in integrating life exploration into their long-term strategies, including resource restructuring and reducing teachers admin workload

Inspiration Through Professional Development: Enhancing their skills in facilitating student-centered learning and integrating new societal trends and educational practices.

Authentic Learning Experiences: Partners with businesses and social sectors to offer real-world experiences and internships

Cross-Sector Collaboration: Promotes collaborative projects between schools, businesses, and community organization to co-create educational opportunities

How has it been spreading?

A key accomplishment of the FEiA initiative is its development of an innovation approach that other schools might find inspirational. This model demonstrates how to effectively maintain a balance between flexibility and structure within educational programmes. It allows schools to tailor their approaches to include values-driven life exploration education, while ensuring adherence to a structured framework that complies with educational standards and policies. This balance is crucial as it provides schools with the autonomy to innovate and adapt to their specific needs without losing sight of their educational goals.

If I want to try it, what should I do?

- Objective: Create a core team similar to the FEiA's approach with dedicated members focused on innovation and passionate on life exploration education
- Action Points:
- Team Composition should include diverse members such as co-curricular activities team heads, subject teachers, and administrators
- Utilize relevant tools such as design thinking, empathy maps, and global case studies during initial team meetings to establish a common understanding on vision
Step 2: Professional Development for Teachers
- Objective: Develop teachers' capacities to support values-driven life exploration education.
- Action Points:
- Provide training sessions to foster teacher’s professional growth through cross-school, cross-sector, and cross-regional exchanges

Step 4: Identify Levers for Change
- Objective: Identify key drivers within the educational framework that can facilitate significant change.
- Action Points
- Focus on identifying student needs and can use relevant tools such as Empathy Maps for reflection and analysis to determine prototype
- Develop a shared vision for student growth and prioritize projects using an Activity Priority Table
Step 5: Experimentation
- Objective: Trial new teaching practices and learning models to integrate life exploration effectively.
- Action Points:
- Put Ideas into practice and continue to Improve by experimenting and co-creating with various stakeholders.
- Employ "SWOT Analysis to evaluate prototype progress and effectiveness and refine approaches with flexibility based on feedback
Step 6: Reflect and Iterate
- Objective: Reflect on the experimentation outcomes and refine strategies based on evaluative feedback.
- Action Points:
- Conduct reflective consolidation sessions to assess what worked and what needs adjustment
- Clarify the understanding of life exploration of each other and establish a shared vision to ensure aligned goals and continued innovation
