What Moves Educators from Empathy to Action | Jenn Scharf | Shadow a Student

Jenn Scharf, Project Lead at Shadow a Student shares about the project and how they build empathy through shadowing students, the connection between empathy, creativity and innovation and what you can do to transform a shadow experience into small "hacks" to create positive change at your school site.

Who is Jenn Scharf?

Twenty years ago as an Outward Bound Instructor, Jenn Scharf realized her passion for working with youth in unconventional learning environments. She would go on to spend nearly a decade working for Outward Bound Canada in a variety of roles from leading 48-day wilderness programs to launching urban-based expeditions. As a certified teacher, she has also worked in public and independent schools across Canada.

Jenn has a passion for expanding her own learning and supporting others to do the same. She holds a Masters in Peace Education from the UN Mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica, a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University, and a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University.

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada she now calls the Vancouver, BC area home. Jenn loves to explore the beauty of British Columbia by ski, bike, paddle and hike.
